role. Youth and Education Coordinator

location. Bournemouth, UK

date. August 2012 - October 2014

Pavilion Dance South West is the National Dance Agency for the South West of England, supporting regional dance strategy development and representing the South West Dance sector nationally.

My role was to bring energy, verve and imagination to the development and management of creative dance projects and opportunities for children and young people. I inspired and enthused schools, teachers, funders and young people and facilitated partnerships, coordinated events and encouraged new people and organisations to engage with PDSW by watching or participating in dance.

The first person to take on this particular role, I built PDSW's Youth and Education Programme over the course of 2 years.

During my time at PDSW, I developed an Associate Schools Programme, sell-out summer schools and holiday activities, as well as delivering bespoke participatory projects for children and young people. I engaged over 9,500 young people each year.

I left PDSW in October 2014, but programmed projects until the end of Spring 2015, with structures in place until the end of Summer 2015. I left behind a legacy of 9 youth dance platforms, raising over £35,000 for youth dance activity, and having delivered over 200 Arts Award qualifications.
